Located at Pier 15 along San Francisco's Embarcadero between Pier 39 and the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium is easy to get to by public transportation plus there's parking nearby.

The Exploratorium is using a timed entry ticketing system to reduce visitor density in the museum. To redeem your admission, simply arrive at the museum on the date that you wish to visit and present your Viator ticket(s) at the Ticket Desk to receive the next available timed entry ticket(s). Please note: there may be a wait to enter if the museum is at capacity. A limited number of walk-up entries are allotted in each 30-minute entry window throughout the day until 4:00 p.m.

NOTE: In accordance with the City of San Francisco Vaccine Requirement, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and a valid photo ID are now required for all visitors ages 12+, without exception.

Contacted the Exploratorium to purchase a gift card for my son's family for Christmas. Customer service rep in the Exploratorium store could not have been nicer or more helpful! In assisting me - she went out of her way to provide a couple of other "specialty" items that I had asked for - to include with the gift card. She immediately shipped the items - and they arrived within the week. In today's fast-paced world, true Customer Service is very hard to come by. I would say that the Exploratorium has it in spades!!! Thank you for a job well done - thank you for a most positive experience.

Overwhelming number of exhibits for all ages and levels of interest in science, from biology to astrophysics. Adults: Prepare for sensory overload and wear very supportive and comfortable shoes. Many of the activities on the main hallway are geared to younger kids. The cafeteria food is good and affordable. Even the views of the Bay and Bay Bridge are beautiful.
