The Exploratorium is using a timed entry ticketing system to reduce visitor density in the museum. To redeem your admission, simply arrive at the museum on the date that you wish to visit and present your Viator ticket(s) at the Ticket Desk to receive the next available timed entry ticket(s). Please note: there may be a wait to enter if the museum is at capacity. A limited number of walk-up entries are allotted in each 30-minute entry window throughout the day until 4:00 p.m.

NOTE: In accordance with the City of San Francisco Vaccine Requirement, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and a valid photo ID are now required for all visitors ages 12+, without exception.

I read all the reviews - and everyone said that 3hrs isn't enough, to plan your trip - they are right! It was so cool, we were all involved in the attractions. After 2.5hrs we had to leave unfortunately. We didn't get through 3 of the sections! Although it seemed like a lot of people there, there was hardly any waiting at the attractions.

Loads of hands on experiences for the kids! We enjoyed all of the themes throughout the complex. Indoors or outdoors, loud or quiet, simple or complex. There were things for every age. Catch the clock performance on the hour and half hour. We visit the Museum of Science and Industry often. This is a different experience. It’s much less formal. The kids become the scientists. They decide how far they want to go with the experiments before they move onto the next theory. We found discounted tickets, so be sure to check for specials before you buy at the door!

For over 3 decades I have loved this place. It is an ever-changing, dynamic, participatory experience that reflects best practices in science center audience engagement. I can't imagine visiting the city without stopping in to see what's up.
