Explore San Diego Tide Pools with a Marine Biologist

Overview
Adventure with a marine biology educator along the coast and learn more about wildlife living in the intertidal zone of San Diego. Great for all ages and skill levels. There are some stairs and lots of uneven terrain we will walk on, so this is not a wheelchair-friendly activity.

I taught middle and high school marine biology for more than a decade before committing to environmental tourism! With fifteen years of teaching youth and adults in outdoor education settings, plus my background in conservation biology, provides guests with in-depth (pun intended) knowledge of marine life during our tide pool exploration.

Groups are kept small (10 people maximum, with exceptions for private groups/families) which makes this a more intimate and personal experience.

My son and I had a ton of fun! Matt was very informative and was great with all the kids! The meet location was easy to find and the walk to the beach was also easy. We saw lots of sea creatures and marine life.

Beyond my highest expectations! Matt was excellent with our kids (ages 7 and 10)! He did a phenomenonal job of providing an educational and exciting experience for us. We felt safe, as he knew the area and had a thorough understanding of tides and ocean safety. This is a must do excursion for all ages! It exceeded our expectations and we encourage everyone to explore all tide pools have to offer with Matt!

Thank you so much Jamison! Definitely the best way to start our morning was with sea slugs, crabs, and octopus!

I did this activity with my husband and two teen-age grandchildren. We are from the Midwest, so we didn't know anything about tide pools and what to look for. Matt was a great tour guide, knowledgeable about the creatures there, and patient to explain things. Since Matt keeps his groups small, it ended up being a private tour just for us, which was great. I also liked that Matt adjusts his tours to the group -- from wading in ankle-deep water to keeping feet dry stepping from rock to rock (our preference). My grandchildren were a little skeptical about getting up early to do this tour, but we all ended up having a good time. An added bonus is that Matt took pictures of us and the creatures we saw and sent them to us after the tour. The price of the tour is very reasonable compared to many other attractions in San Diego. Highly recommend!
