Fire in the Valley- Carnegie Steel and the Town That Built America

Overview
Pittsburgh's Steel Valley along the Monongahela River made the steel which built America and fueled the Arsenal of Democracy for two World Wars. It was also the site of the Battle of Homestead 9 July 1892, the most consequential armed confrontation between workers and company-employed strikebreakers in American History.

George is awesome. Excellent presenter and very knowledgeable. His family has lived Pittsburg, and his passion is conveyed through the tour. 10/10.

We didnā€™t know what to expect as there was no formal itinerary when we signed up - but we quickly realized it was because George wanted to make the tour as relevant to us as possible. He asked about our interests and hobbies, and tailored our experience to what we would find most interesting - making it very authentic and personable. He has a wealth of knowledge about Pittsburgh - being the son of a former trucker and true ā€œPittsburghianā€ who knows everything there is to know about the city. This is not a walking tour - George personally drives you through the history of what made Pittsburgh the true ā€œGateway to the Westā€. Not a ton of photo ops (granted we didnā€™t really ask) - but this isnā€™t that kind of tour and we were happy that it wasnā€™t. If you want to spend 2 hours with a hilarious, genuine, proud Pittsburgh native who will cater to your specific needs - and learn a lot of things you never knew - this is the tour for you. Highly recommend. Thank you George!

Nice tour that takes you back to when Pittsburgh was the steel capital. In another 10 years it will be hard to even recognize where the local mill works was located. George is very entertaining and does go to great lengths to organize the tour and touch things of interest that would only be applicable to the attendees - such as he knew we were baseball fan's and he made sure to point out items of significance about baseball in our travels. I booked late so we weren't able to go at the time we wanted, but we were able to make things work out.
