Overview

Descend into the many canyons of the Rio Grande by boat. Float through the spectacular scenery of the international boundary. The water level determines which canyon we float through and whether we float in canoes, kayaks, or rafts. This scenic float is great for all ages. Come explore the Chihuahuan Desert and learn about the geology, plants, and history. This is a full day trip, you will be responsible for bringing your lunch, and we have the coolers to pack your lunch in.

What To Expect

Terlingua Ghost Town

The tour starts in Terlingua, TX. As we ride in vans to the river learn about the cultural history, geology, flora and fauna of the Chihuahuan Desert. Once at the river we will get outfitted in PFD's (personal floatation devices) and pack cameras and other valuables into dry bags. We will do a safety briefing and paddling instruction talk. After several hours of floating we will stop on the side of the river for a picnic and swim. You are responsible to pack a lunch and water bottle, we will have water to refill your bottles and coolers for your food. Alcoholic beverages are allowed in cans. We will continue our float down the international boundary.We typically return to Terlingua around 4:30 p.m.

We had a great time on our boating trip with Erica and Jeff. They were both super experienced guides, very knowledgeable, entertaining, and accommodating. I was a bit worried because didn’t own appropriate footwear for the trip. No problem, they had plenty of rubber boots for our group, which meant I didn’t have to deal with wet feet the whole trip. She provided lots of information on the geography and history of the area and gave us great information about what to do with the rest of our time in the area. I would happily book this trip or any other trip with this company.

This was our first trip to Big Bend & Terlingua. Jeff was our guide rafting down the Rio Grande - and he did not disappoint! It was a beautiful day with breathtaking scenery. Jeff was funny and very knowledgeable about the area, but more importantly, he was well trained and certified in medical care and river maneuvering. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I visited Terulingua for my first time with my mom! We had Jeff for our rafting trip down the Rio grande/Colorado canyon and Cassidy for our hike up the Lost Mine trail! Jeff was super knowledgeable and experienced on the water,making us feel safe and secure. He was also very attentive- making sure we were comfortable at all times. I loved his informative and funny commentary, it really made the whole trip that much more enjoyable! He went out of his way to tell us about even more things we could see and do in the area. He really made us feel like we made a new friend! Cassidy really took the time to point out all the specific plant and animal life, dropping knowledge bombs whenever possible. I enjoyed listening to what he had to say about the surrounding areas. This was a beautiful hike and Cassidy was very patient, informative and easy to talk to! I left the experience feeling very inspired :) Thanks guys!
