What a wonderful experience! My daughters and I took a photography tour with Tom and it was incredible. My 14 year old loves photography and Tom helped her learn how to use her camera and set up great shots. My 18 year old and I had our iPhones only and he also gave us many tips on using them! We all got some stunning photos, While it felt relaxed, there was never a boring moment! Tom has much information and experience. He's a gifted photographer and a really nice guy. He listens well and created a tour that was perfect for us. The day we took our tour was very rainy and yet, we still have beautiful photos and wonderful memories. I can't say enough positives about Tom and the experience we had on the photography tour. I definitely recommend it!

Recently, I traveled to an incredible place called Haines Alaska. The beauty was stunning and the people kind & fun. But one of the highlights of my trip there, was taking a private photography workshop with resident Tom Ganner. Tom is a retired teacher, but I say that he’s not retired at all – Tom’s natural teaching abilities, come to the forefront on a trip with him. I was very much an amateur photographer, with all the wrong equipment, but Tom calmly & coolly made me feel like I had been shooting great shots forever. He knows his stuff, and brilliantly imparts it into everyone who rides along on a photography tour with him. And, did his teaching mark success? Well, from the moment my workshop ended, I have seen a major improvement in my personal photography! From better knowledge of lighting, challenging new angles and proper equipment usage – my photography has improved ten-fold! But hear me, Tom puts so much more into his workshops than photography and ways to greatly enhance your pictures - he also supplements each trip with his vast historical knowledge of the area, which adds meaning & value to every picture you take! Having the historical background knowledge about the Haines area, really changes how you view every shot thru the camera’s lens. So, it’s a must - if you are visiting Haines Alaska, contact Tom and treat yourself to one of his awesome workshops; you will not be disappointed!

We were gifted a photography tour with Tom Ganner as an early Christmas gift and it was amazing! Our main goal was to photograph eagles at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Tom took us out the road and hooked us up with an amazing lens - he was able to attach it to the camera we brought and it was eye-opening to see first-hand the difference in sharpness a lens like that can make compared to our own. He gave us a lot of useful tips about composition, exposure, shutter speed, and even the best place to go for printing of our photos whenever we decided to do so. We even learned some interesting things about eagles from Tom that we didn't already know. It was a very chilly day but he kept us entertained with stories and some jokes. He took us to look for swans as well and found us about 20 of them swimming together on a pretty lake which made for some great photos. On the drive back, we came across a HUGE bull moose right on the side of the road and we were able to safely pull over and photograph him. Overall this was a great experience that I'd highly recommend, not just for those with a photography interest, but also for anyone who wants to see some beautiful scenery and wildlife.
