Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
In 1889 Wright completed the construction of a small two-story residence in Oak Park on the Western edges of Chicago. The building was the first over which Wright exerted complete artistic control. Designed as a home for his family, the Oak Park residence was a site of experimentation for the young architect during the twenty-year period he lived there. Wright revised the design of the building multiple times, continually refining ideas that would shape his work for decades to come.

I was fortunate enough to have a tour with only 2 other persons at the FLW Home and Studio. Our tourguide was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly (like the lady in the gift store). The metro ride from Downtown Chicago was very doable, despite the cold wind. I could not recommend this tour enough; it is a true addition to your sentiments, if you have an admiration for (the works of) this architect. I am not adding any pictures; please go see for your self as the pictures will do no justice to what you can see (and hear) in reality.

Great neighborhood and home/studio tour. The tour guide was very passionate and knowledgeable. It’s great to see how the nonprofit group got life back into an iconic and historical structure. I learned a lot.
