Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

This is the tour to take if you want to learn about Charleston beyond the history books. Franklin’s knowledge, humor and passion contributed to the story providing both context and a glimpse into the African experience…past and present. He was honest about the ongoing struggle to tell this real story while remaining positive about the progress the city has made. The tour was more than we anticipated and we highly recommend it!

Fantastic tour! Higley recommended. Don't skip this one. You will learn more than on one of the whitewashed carriage or other tourist trap tours

Are you ready to learn the Charleston history that they don't mention on the tours? What do you know about The Neck and the people that lived there - the people that built the city? Would you like to learn about the symbolism in the ironworks you'll see around city crafted by Philip Simmons? How about the story of Septima Clark? If you're interested in a deeper look at the history of Charleston, Franklin is as knowledgeable and passionate a guide as you could possibly hope for. I highly recommend this tour if you are interested in the full story of Charleston.
