Seeing the original "1st Volunteer Charge Up San Juan Hill" was a must. It was what I thought it would be. The staff were very knowledgeable and kind. Well worth the time and travel to see. An added bonus was the tickets to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY.

I really liked Remington's paintings in other museums, like the Art Institute of Chicago, and was excited to see there is a museum about him. The staff lady working was very passionate and informative, explaining why this museum is located here, in this specific house in Ogdensburg. The museum is not as big as I thought but has lot of info about Remington, and two large rooms with his work. The work includes some pretty paintings and sketches, and also has many of his sculptures, which is very cool. Upstairs, there is a room dedicated to the work of Sally James Farnham, another talented local artist. There's also some historical notes about the history of the house.

Thatā€™s right. If youā€™re on the fence about visiting this art museum, go. Not only are the collections impressive, the staff is splendid. They want you to pick their brains about the collection. And, if you are from out-of-town, they will share with you what they know about the area. The artworks here are top-notch. Check them out. You wonā€™t regret it.
