From Ma'alaea Harbor, Maui: Molokini Snorkeling Adventure Aboard Calypso

Overview
Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

This day trip was awesome! The staff was so nice and accommodating. We went to Molokini Crater only since there were reports of sharks at Turtle Town. I participated in the Snuba which I highly recommend. The water was so clear and they provided us with all the gear needed. I felt very safe with the crew and during snuba.

The crew was excellent, breakfast and lunch were surprisingly good. We had a clear day, saw lots of fish and turtles. Water was warm enough that you donā€™t need a wetsuit. This is the perfect boat for you if you get sea sickness, stay at the lower level and you will be okay. Lots of stairs to get in and out of the boat, only downside is thereā€™s so many people that you end up running into people while snorkeling, but not too bad, just be aware of your surroundings. Overall, I would do this excursion again!

We are by no means experienced divers or snorkelers but we have been to a few sites with family members on dive trips. The Calypso and its staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, but they simply could not make up for the fact that there were close to 100 people on the boat trying to snorkel in a small area that has seemed to have passed its prime. Too many flippers on people and too few fish to view. We did see a large turtle at the second site and saw both spinner and another variety of dolphins. However, we just couldn't shake the feeling that being part of this large group we were just part of the problem. Too many people.
