We spent the day with Mike and want to say he everything you could want in a guide. Relaxed, informative, friendly and completely at home in the Everglades. The wild-life was frankly way beyond expectations. Our hike through cypress forest, through the knee deep water was serene and pleasant. Our freshwater kayaking was just as idyllic. We encountered a terrific variety of birds as well as the expected and frequent alligators. We unhesitatingly recommend For anyone who is interested is getting off the beaten path and away from typical or rote tours, we unhesitatingly recommend Garl's.

Quote from skeptical teen: “ I don’t know what I expected, but that was amazing.” We got to hang out with Garl for the day. After the drive to the starting point, we were right into it. Started with the slog. It was really wet and the water was very clear. It was more challenging that we expected, mostly because of the high water. It is usually dry by now, but it has been a wet season. Off to the freshwater kayaking. We saw Croczilla. Learned about the plants and saw an alligator back in the mangroves. Headed to the saltwater kayak hoping for break in the weather. Saw manatees, crocodile, alligators, sawfish (2), spoonbills, lemon shark, and lots of other birds. As a not-fit, mushy adult, I was spent by the end of the day. The teen was fine. We learned a lot in a relaxing environment.

Mike was an incredible guide! It was a such a fun and educational experience. I love that it was an up close and personal trip through Cyprus groves and mangrove and the wildlife was everywhere. Seeing the sunset on Florida bay will stay in my dreams forever.
