Not too impressed with this rafting company. We booked and paid for a full day, with lunch, white water raft trip down the Yellowstone River. We arrived right at the advised check in time of 9:30 am for our 10 am tour. As soon as we arrived a young lady rushed to get us water shoes, after that another person asked our name and handed us an ipad to sign the waiver. As we were signing the waiver the original girl (who was our tour guide) told to come out immediately for life jackets, she came back 30 seconds later and said let's go! We boarded a van with about 8 other peopled and headed out. The van driver and young lady tour guide chatted a bit with the group asking the standard 'where you from" questions, etc during the ride on the way to the launch area. Fast forward to about 10 minutes into the tour down a VERY lazy River (none of us had been given paddles, unusual for a white water raft tour) and I was thinking it just didn't feel like we were on the correct tour. I spoke up and asked her how many miles down do we go (knowing the full day is 18 miles). She said about 6 miles. At this point I told her I think we are on the wrong tour. She mildly tried to blame me saying she asked if we were on the "scenic tour", that was simply not true, never once was the tour name mentioned or were we asked what tour we were on. I felt is was very safe to assume since they checked us in they knew what tour were doing. How hard is it, when you have multiply tours departing at similar times to say "this is the XYZ tour" when you board the van? That should be standard procedure. They also should take some type of attendance by name before the tour departs, this would be critical information knowing who is on what tour should there be an emergency on the river. After the tour finished the van driver came up to us and tried again to blame us for getting on the wrong tour, not cool, we had no reason to believe we were with the wrong group. He offered to take us back to the store with the group where we could wait for a 1/2 hour and then be bused another several miles to meet up at the lunch stop of the full day tour and continue with them. We hesitantly agreed. On the bus ride back my wife and I decided that we didn't' want to wait for another half hour, then ride another bus and only get half of the white water tour we paid for. The experience of the full day on the water, and the more exciting white water raft tour (as opposed to the mild scenic tour) was lost. We told them this when we got back and they agreed to refund the difference between the tour (I feel they should of refunded the entire price as we did not get what we paid for and looked forward to, but I don't like to make fuss so I accepted the refund). Another thing I would like to point out is that never once were there any safety procedures discussed. Now as I said this was a very mild tour, boring actually, and more like a lazy river. However, the guides should certainly cover what to do if you fall out, standard rafting protocol of not trying to stand up in the river if you do fall out, float down the river feet first, etc. Our particulate guide was friendly enough, but she was very delinquent in providing even the most basic safety procedures. I was certainly not nervous at all because I have been rafting before and the river was very mild, however, I would not of been confident at all in the tour guide being able to handle any type of emergency.

The entire adventure was a family favorite. Highly recommend making this a part of your Yellowstone trip. Our guide Sticks was the best, not only was he great at rafting but also very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the Yellowstone River we traveled through. He was outstanding with kids, important to us, we're making memories with our grandsons. The entire experience from booking on was fantastic. It was apparent that everyone at Wild West Rafting loves what they do. Definitely a highlight to our Yellowstone vacation! Give them a call of your going to Yellowstone.

Did the full day rafting plus overnight camping- super fun! It was a great way to spend the time outdoors, but they take care of everything. The yurts were clean and comfy. Food was excellent. We even took a side excursion to see grizzlies (binoculars required). Thanks to Emily who did an awesome job.
