A business associate from Chicago was here and wanted to white water raft so he convinced us to go with him. This has been on my bucket list to do. I am plus sized and was concerned that they wouldn't have a wet suit to fit. Jesse insisted it would and was happy to see they had all sizes available. The water temp was 58, air temp 65 and thought I would be cold but not at all. Although I am sure everyone feels their guide was the best but ours really was. Ask for Jesse Stone (he looks like a mountain man) but couldn't have been a sweeter guy. We also had Brant the owners 16 yr old son who is in training. They made it so fun and interesting trip!! I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't want to go in the water. We couldn't take the smiles off our faces as we went thru the rapids and wanted more. Brant and two of our group decided to swim the rapids but my husband felt it was a bit cold once he was in. Maybe when its warmer. We felt we were experts at the end but I wonder if we even need to row since the guides seem to work the hardest!! Probably just gives us something to keep us engaged. They provided snacks and water for us if needed and Brenda's homemade cookies!! Brenda--you need to sell them by the dozen back at the shop. They are to die for!! Since this was a last minute plan, I am the planner and have to know it all so this was out of my comfort zone. That being said, everyone was great, comforting and made us all feel like we were ready. From suiting up, entering the water, the raft trip, back at the shop everyone was so nice and professional. I just cant say enough good things. Jesse, you rock!! I am already recruiting friends to do a full day and also a two day trip!!! I will definitely be back!!

I have just read the review by Erica W. and I was on the same trip. Erica left out the most dramatic part of the trip, namely that she and I were both swept out of the raft thanks to a humungous wave (class 5) on the last major rapid. Elizabeth, the guide, was able to pull Erica back on board but I was swept away in the rapids and floated on down about fifty yards or so before making my way to the rocks on the bank. While we were all instructed on the various safety procedures in case the raft capsized or swamped out, there is nothing like learning by doing. I would advise a novice to take a Salmon River raft trip later in the year at lower water levels although that does not guarantee you won't take a swim. Other than that the trip was a lot of fun, lunch was great, and the guides very knowledgeable and expert. However, I am still waiting for my Salmon River Swim merit badge.

We have been on a couple different rafting trips before and this one was by FAR the BEST! We went at the end of May because we wanted to hit some bigger rapids but we weren't sure how it would go because it isn't exactly hot weather yet. We were a little scared that it would be cold but we went anyway... and we are SO GLAD we did! We will go at this time of year EVERY YEAR now! They suited us up in wetsuits AND drysuit jackets and pants and when we launched we were nice and toasty. When we were going through the big rapids our faces and hands would be cold for maybe 2 minutes before we were dry and warmed up again. They outfitted us very appropriately and we were very comfortable the entire trip. We had an amazing guide (Elisabeth) who was energetic, funny, and knowledgeable of the area. It was fun hearing all the different facts about the river and the surrounding areas. We couldn't have asked for a better guide! We also had Tyler and Michelle along with us who would also be excellent guides to go with! For lunch, I was expecting soggy hoagie sandwiches and stale potato chips (like most places who provide lunch with their days trips) but we were pleasantly surprised with a GREAT, filling lunch! They provided delicious chicken Caesar wraps with a homemade pasta salad, fresh veggies, fruit, and drinks.. not to mention AWESOME homemade cookies. There was more than enough food and we were all pleasantly full by the time we got back on the raft (which is a great feeling because being on the water tends to make you pretty hungry)! The raft that we were on far exceeded any past rafts we had been on. Very sturdy and felt very safe. ALL of the equipment used on the trip (wetsuits, life jackets.... everything) was top of the line. The facility itself was clean and the staff was friendly and fun. I wouldn't have changed a thing about our trip! Thank you so much to the guides Elisabeth, Michelle and Tyler! We will recommend MRO to anyone and everyone we know and will definitely be coming back! E. Walker (we did the full-day trip at the end of May 2013)
