Explore New Orlean's history on a guided our of Oak Alley Plantation. Learn all about plantation life from your tour guide and see antique farm machinery up close. Marvel at the long-standing and impressive 28 oak trees that line the road leading up to the main plantation house. Benefit from pick-up at your accommodation in New Orleans, and then make your way to the Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie for your guided walking tour of its grounds. Oak Alley was named after the 28 huge oak trees that line the road leading up to – and pre-dating the plantation house.

After your plantation tour we will head down to Westwego Louisiana where you have a chance to enjoy a sit down lunch (AT OWN EXPENSE).

After lunch we will take you across the Cajun Swamp where you take a 90 minutes airboat ride. The Captains will navigate their way through the swamp. You will learn about Louisiana Wetlands, the inhabitants of the swamp, the life and habits of the American Alligators. Riders must be 48" tall.

Your full-day plantation and swamp tour begins with a 8:00 am hotel pickup from downtown New Orleans (please allow 30 minutes for pickups).

Oak Alley Plantation is located 75 miles and about 1hour from the French Quarter. Travel along Great River Road and marvel at the beautiful Antebellum Mansions along the way.

Oak Alley Plantation
Oak Alley Plantation includes gracious interiors that echo the romance of another era, where gleaming hardwood floors and shimmering chandeliers reflect both streams of sunlight, and the venerable history of this magnificent home.The Slavery at Oak Alley exhibit it shares the story of those who were enslaved on this sugar plantation from approximately 1835 to the end of the Civil War. It also shares the daily life of these slaves, including topics such as healthcare, punishment and life after Emancipation. The Confederate Commanding Officer’s Tent exhibit. The Sugar Cane Theater, it tells the story of sugar’s impact on the people of Oak Alley, through video and exhibit. Black Smith Shop House, one of the few remaining 1890s era forges of its type in Louisiana.

You we travel back down to westwego louisiana to enjoy a sit down lunch at Segnette Landing Restaurant (at your own expense) which is 1 hour drive or 65 miles from Oak Alley Plantation and 10 miles from downtown hotels

We loved everything about the experience. Our driver Dionne was great!! Our only feedback was waiting over 45 min after the gator tour drop off. We wish we could have explored the plantation more with that time. We sat at picnic tables waiting for the swamp tour. All time appreciated on vacation!
