The entire day was a wonderful experience but our guide made it really fun. Rae Ann was small but mighty as she explained each rapid to us, what would happen and what to do when she told us to. It was a beautiful day as we got onto the bus for our adventure. My wife hardly uttered a word which told me she was scared. Ww drove about 20 minutes to get to the launch area where we were paid with Rae Ann. After a good orientation and practice in the parking lot, we eventually put the raft in the water and loaded up. Ww were told the rapids would start right away, and they did. They were fairly easy but have us some confidence as we paddled forward. The views going downstream were amazing, like paddling through a canyon. The more we paddled the more we got into more challenging rapids. We had two smaller women in the front and the got the big splashes in their faces, all met with huge laughes and shock with the water hitting the. Rae Ann keep yelling for us to paddle. Eventually we were like a championship team as we overcame rapids that I would of never guessed we could of paddled through. This was so much more than a lazy day on the river. This was OUR OLYMPICS!!! We screamed and cheered with each deep dip down into roaring mountains of rough water. In each case we felt a huge sense of accomplishment and really was motivating. Rae Ann still guiding our raft skillfully past rocks the size of small cars, all just hoping they could spill us out. Nope, never, nanda. Take that you giant mamouth suckers. We beasuckered.
If you ever want a sense of accomplishment you have to go on this trip. We did the full day adventure and wouldn't of done a thing differently. They had a well executed lunch which was a sandwich made will any combination of standard lunch meat you would want. Even had fresh shrimp!
Typically when I review I try to say nothing good and bad to be a fair reviewer. I can honestly say I didn't find a thing wrong with our day. It was my 61st birthday and everyone thought I'd do a lazy river and glide down the stream. Instead I brought 7 of my family, my cousin and her two teenaged sons. Honestly, everyone of us had a blast. My wife said one and done for her but she also said that it was amazing. I cannot wait to go back.
We looked at many outfitters that day but we honestly felt these guys were committed to safety, while making the day fun. You could sense their work in the background to making a huge focus on safety. I once hit my daughters paddle in fun and was shut down by that boat guide. Yet the entire day we laughed with our guide, some of her bad humor and just the over all exhilarating experience of our day. I was the most sad to end our day and never found our guide to say thanks and show some appreciation. For me she made my birthday so much more fun and special.
This is one of those that you really have to go and experience once in your life. I'm hoping to do this again soon. It was THAT amazing.
