Glenwood Canyon Half-Day Raft Trip in Colorado

Overview

If we only had two to three hours to spend on the water and wanted show our friends or family what it's like to experience the thrill of Class III (Class IV at higher water) Colorado whitewater rafting and the beauty of Glenwood Canyon, this would be the trip we'd take them on. And if we only had two hours because everyone had plans after the trip, well, we'd probably cancel them so we could all go rafting.

At lower water levels it's perfect for first-timers, families, and people who like experiencing life rather than Snapchatting it. At higher water levels, typically late-Spring thru early-Summer, this experience is best for adrenaline junkies and experienced paddlers in good physical condition and without pre-existing medical conditions.

We took our 15 yr old and 9yr old daughters rafting for the first time and they loved it. My husband and I have rafted in Wyoming and Montana, and enjoyed our trip so much. Our guide was Scott, he was very friendly and fun to go down the river with. We would definitely go back to Defiance Rafting again.

We had an awesome time! The water was too high and unsafe for what we originally planned to do but they adjusted the trip and took us on a different adventure instead! They provide swim shoes, wetsuits, helmets, etc!! Our guide Jeremy was great! Very funny and personable. The whole team there was! You could really tell they all loved their job and it’s not about the money, but the experience for them. Everything was super safe and legit! Jeremy gave us lots info and history about the river and gave recommendations on what to do in the city. He let us even “ride the bull” on the front tip of the raft, and jump in for a swim in safe spots which was awesome!! Only complaint is the charge for photos. The have a few photographers on the side of the river to snap some pics, but 1 picture is $25 and anymore than that is $50 (whether you get 2 pictures or all 40/50 they took) so a little outrageous. I would’ve paid $25 for all 50 so maybe that’s something they’ll consider in the future. Overall a wonderful experience.

We had the most fun today rafting with Jeremy. Since we were early to the season we were able to take all 4 of our kids (8-14) on this. Started with class 3 rapids (we got soaked!) and then a nice scenic ride after that. The owner, Gregory, was super friendly and helpful as well. Even the bathhouse where we changed was clean and super convenient. Highly recommend!
