We were fortunate enough to have a private tour for 2 around Chincoteague/Assateague. We were able to see the horses, pelicans, dolphins, and bald eagles

Captain John was great to ride with. His local knowledge of the islands and surrounding area was extensive. He showed us multiple examples of local wildlife and some history of the island founding and local culture. Great day trip activity.

What a great little break in the day! If you’re in Chincoteague for either a day trip or a longer stay, you owe it to yourself to hop on the boat. The only confusion was knowing exactly where to be/where to park. There’s a group of small brown cottages with a U-Shaped drive, park anywhere you see an open spot! The boat tour is small, intimate, and you can literally ask the Captain questions as he’s navigating. We got lucky and saw the ponies taking a leisurely stroll along the water’s edge, as well as a school of dolphins performing! We even learned about an orange-beaked bird called a ā€œoyster snatcherā€. As a Virginia native, I never knew this creature existed until yesterday. Captain was awesome, shut down the engine several times and let us float toward the wildlife, we got stunning pictures. Don’t miss out!
