What To Expect

Talkeetna Air Taxi

You will start your excursion by checking into our log cabin office at the Talkeetna State Airport 45 minutes prior to your flight departure. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, light jacket (in the summer) and plenty of memory on your camera. Board our ski-equipped aircraft and enjoy your pilots' commentary about the geological history and local wildlife on your individual headset. Continue your flight above Talkeetna and over the river systems of the Susitna valley as you enter into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers and snow peaks. You'll be awed by the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, filled with a 4,000 foot thick river of ice, making this one of the deepest gorges in the world. Travel further into the range to explore the seven major glaciers that blanket the southside of the Alaska Range. Add a glacier landing onto your trip for a highlight of your Alaska vacation. This will add 30 minutes onto your trip time for this chance to bask in awe inspiring scenery.

The plane was comfortable and the views and the photography opportunities were amazing. Booked a glacier landing. They cancelled it for reasons we don't understand. Very disappointing

Thank you for your feedback. We anticipate doing glacier landings, unless mother nature dictates otherwise. We do give a weather briefing prior to your flight. We flew up to Denali, and landed on a glacier. Luckily, we had a beautiful sunny day, and Denali was out of her clouds to see. The only real way to see Alaska is to fly over her. I now know why people pull up stakes at home, and head to Alaska to live. It just feels like freedom. Every safety precaution was taken to make this a safe flight, and we checked with locals to see which service to use. Everyone told us that Talkeetna Air was the best.

What an AMAZING, once in a lifetime experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating — we came on a whim and were up in the air in 30 minutes (they took an early excursion for us). I was a bit terrified, but the ride was smooth and perfect. Paul was a fantastic pilot, incredibly knowledgable of flying, mountaineering, the route, Alaska and much more. He gave great insights into the spots and answered every question (I asked a lot). 5 star experience, wholeheartedly recommend.
