What To Expect

Talkeetna Air Taxi

You will start your excursion by checking into our log cabin office at the Talkeetna State Airport 45 minutes prior to your flight departure. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, light jacket (in the summer) and plenty of memory on your camera. Board our ski-equipped aircraft and enjoy your pilots' commentary about the geological history and local wildlife on your individual headset. Continue your flight above Talkeetna and over the river systems of the Susitna valley as you enter into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers and snow peaks. You'll be awed by the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, filled with a 4,000 foot thick river of ice, making this one of the deepest gorges in the world. Travel further into the range to explore the seven major glaciers that blanket the southside of the Alaska Range. Add a glacier landing onto your trip for a highlight of your Alaska vacation. This will add 30 minutes onto your trip time for this chance to bask in awe inspiring scenery.

My experience with Talkeetna Air Taxi was awesome! I booked short notice for the 4th of July holiday and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Big kudos to Heidi for being so helpful and friendly during the check-in process. She made it a breeze and did so with a smile! The predeparture preparation was straightforward and efficient and the folks on the ground were awesome. Leighan was our pilot. She was knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly and her comments during the flight made it easy to track our location. Plus, her piloting skills were top notch both on and off the ice! This experience was nothing short of amazing. Landing on Ruth Glacier and seeing Denali in all her glory is indescribable. Our group was lucky enough to see the summit, which I hear is not always the norm. It was such a lovely day that many folks were wearing t-shirts on the glacier! If you do one thing while in Talkeetna, it should be seeing Denali with Talkeetna Air Taxi. It was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had.

We had no intention of going flightseeing while in Talkeetna, as we already had a glacier landing scheduled elsewhere for another day. However, the skies were crystal clear & the perfect view of Denali had us scrambling for a flight. Luckily, we were able to get a flight within 2 hours with Talkeetna Air Taxi & even received 10% off for a family booking & another 30% off for kids under age 11. Our pilot, Matt, took our family up in a '61 DeHavilland Beaver. The scenery was spectacular - glaciers, rugged mountain peaks, massive granite walls, Denali...and the flight was expertly narrated by our pilot. Our headsets & mouthpieces allowed us to ask questions & converse during the flight as well. This was quite expensive for the whole family to do, but soaring amongst the jagged, snowy, granite peaks was an amazing experience.

This flight was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Dave, our pilot, was very informative, friendly and did an excellent job. The glacier landing was great and seeing Denali from 21000 feet is something I will never forget.
