Grand Knik Helicopter Tour - 2 hours 3 landings - ANCHORAGE AREA

Overview

Our signature flightseeing and glacier landing tour, includes 30 mins of flightseeing and 30 mins landed at 3 Glacier areas including on the glacier itself. This tour includes an alpine landing where you will have 30 mins to see the grand size of the 5 mile wide and 29 mile long Knik Glacier with a birds eye view. Your 2nd landing takes you to a 100 foot ice wall where you may even be able to see the massive ice calve . After 30 minutes exploring you go to the glacier landing right in the middle of Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes exploring ancient ice. See the azure blue melt pools (summer), crevasses and ice formations created by water, wind and the sun. During your flight seeing, keep your eyes open for the area wildlife to include Moose, Mountain Goats, Dall Sheep, Bears and even wolf on occasion!

CHECK IN is 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. If you arrive late, your tour may be shortened or rescheduled and additional cost may be applicable.
SERVICE ANIMALS are permitted if they are secured in a crate only. Call for specifications
Restaurant Service is available on site May 1 - September 30. Snacks are available year round for purchase.
WINTER TOURS - October - April -we are unable to land on top of the glacier due to snow cover. We will land next to the glaciers near the massive ice formations
Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.
Comfort surcharge applied for anyone over 250lbs. This allows us to block out an additional seat for safety and comfort
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
NOT PERMITTED: DRONES-SMOKING ITEMS (VAPES/LIGHTERS/E-CIG)-FIREARMS-BAGS/BACKPACKS/LOOSE STRAPS - please leave all bags in the vehicle or we do have lockers to store them

We were in 6-seater helicopter with a family of 4 (parents with 2 young girls). We were told that based on weight (we are not overweight people), we couldn't sit up front. One of the advantages of being in a helicopter is to see the landscape by air. We weren't offered a chance to trade out, even separately. One of us was always stuck in the middle seat, views obstructed by front or side passengers. It's not an inexpensive tour and we all paid the same- actually, the 2 little girls that took turns with their parents up front paid less! Would've been nice for the pilot to shift people around so we all get a chance to have a front row unobstructed view! Also, we did not land next to the 100 ft tall ice wall at Lake George Glacier. The pilot was OK. I felt he could've "guided" a little more especially on the landing as it was difficult to hear through the headphones.

WOW! I was super scared of getting into a helicopter but caved and I have zero regrets! Michael Brooks was our pilot and he was amazing. Super conscientious, such a great pilot, nice and fun. He heard that I was obsessed with seeing a moose and was determined to find one for me. Well, he found about 5 of them!!! We highly recommend this tour!!
