Grand Knik Helicopter Tour - 2 hours 3 landings - ANCHORAGE AREA

Overview

Our signature flightseeing and glacier landing tour, includes 30 mins of flightseeing and 30 mins landed at 3 Glacier areas including on the glacier itself. This tour includes an alpine landing where you will have 30 mins to see the grand size of the 5 mile wide and 29 mile long Knik Glacier with a birds eye view. Your 2nd landing takes you to a 100 foot ice wall where you may even be able to see the massive ice calve . After 30 minutes exploring you go to the glacier landing right in the middle of Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes exploring ancient ice. See the azure blue melt pools (summer), crevasses and ice formations created by water, wind and the sun. During your flight seeing, keep your eyes open for the area wildlife to include Moose, Mountain Goats, Dall Sheep, Bears and even wolf on occasion!

CHECK IN is 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. If you arrive late, your tour may be shortened or rescheduled and additional cost may be applicable.
SERVICE ANIMALS are permitted if they are secured in a crate only. Call for specifications
Restaurant Service is available on site May 1 - September 30. Snacks are available year round for purchase.
WINTER TOURS - October - April -we are unable to land on top of the glacier due to snow cover. We will land next to the glaciers near the massive ice formations
Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.
Comfort surcharge applied for anyone over 250lbs. This allows us to block out an additional seat for safety and comfort
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
NOT PERMITTED: DRONES-SMOKING ITEMS (VAPES/LIGHTERS/E-CIG)-FIREARMS-BAGS/BACKPACKS/LOOSE STRAPS - please leave all bags in the vehicle or we do have lockers to store them

We booked the Grand Knik Tour for the day before our cruise. Walking on and exploring a glacier was the top item on my list. I was hesitant to book this as an excursion at one of our cruise ports because I was afraid that it could be canceled due to weather. I booked with Alaska Helicopter Tours based upon the fantastic reviews, and the fact that they supplied transportation out of Anchorage. Our pilot, Bryan, was fantastic. My favorite part of the tour was when we landed on Knik Glacier and walked down a crevasse to the blue melt pool. This was probably the best experience we’ve ever had!! If you are hesitant about booking this, just do it! You will not regret it!

Our guide Jessy was awesome! He made our your very personal and he cared that we were getting the experience we wanted. He made sure we had ample time to explore at each of our landings. We had a fantastic time.

Jessy Tennant was our Guide/pilot and he was great. He asked us if there was anything in particular that we wanted to see. We told him to take us to some interesting spots and he did. We stopped at 3 different locations and enjoyed it very much. He was very personable and friendly. We recommend the Alaska Helicopter Tours, the directions were clear and easy to follow.
