What To Expect
1
Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is legendary. You’ve seen it in a ton of films, it’s the unofficial campus of NYU students and you’ll see some of the coolest people in the city here. Feed pigeons. Hear musicians and watch street performers. You never know what to expect. Oh except for the mighty arch which is, of course, renowned.
2
The Stonewall Inn
The Stonewall Inn is such a huge historical site - literally and figuratively. We pass by the prideful institution as well as its new statue which was installed to commemorate it’s 50th anniversary.

Dante is the perfect guy for this tour. He’s knowledgeable about the food, about the history of the places he takes you to and takes a lot of care to make sure you’re going to get the best out of the Lower East Side. The food itself is quite special, perhaps iconic in its own way. From Yonah Schimmels Knish to the dumplings at Vanessa’s, you get a great sense of the diversity of the cultures in this part of Manhattan. The original owners all came from nothing, immigrants who arrived and made a business by sheer hard work. They’re all now proving that hard work and consistency are what gives customers a great experience. I think the same goes for Dante, he’s good at what he does and it shows in his passion for the food and the history surrounding it. His jokes are a bit cheesy, but it’s all part of the fun. If you miss this tour, you’re missing a quintessential part of New York City. So don’t miss it!

This was a Great experience! If you are looking to get a feel for the food and history of Greenwich Village, then this is the tour for you. Dante was a great host and guide. The food was excellent and he allowed us to pair with beer and wine. He was knowledgeable and told some interesting and funny stories. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic tour- both the host (who is friendly, funny and engaging) and the food- which was incredible! Big tip- having done another food tour previously in NYC where we sampled small, bite-sized pieces of food which was a good appetizer, we expected this to be similar. It wasn't- you get LOTS of food and leave full! Don't make the same mistake I had and go just after eating breakfast :D
