Overview

Tour the 67,000-square-foot Griffith Observatory with this curated itinerary developed by former observatory employees. Travel through space and time as your guide covers everything from science to Los Angeles history to movie magic. The observatory is also a great place to enjoy panoramic views of LA including the Hollywood Sign.

After your tour, you can enjoy a show in the world-famous planetarium theater. Bring money for tickets, and your guide can help you purchase these on-site. This 40-minute immersive show includes live narration and out-of-this-world projections. Shows are open to ages 5 and older.

Meet your guide on the front lawn at Astronomers Monument. NOTE: We are an independent tour company and are not affiliated with the City of LA or their employees. If you ask Observatory staff about the tour they won’t be able to help. You MUST check in with your guide at the Astronomer’s Monument.
To see a planetarium show, you can buy tickets in person. Your guide will show you how. They're $10 for adults and $6 for kids ages 5-12 (under 5 not allowed in the theater).

Astronomers Monument

See the Astronomers Monument — a large, outdoor concrete sculpture on the front lawn that pays homage to six of the greatest astronomers of all time.

Griffith Observatory

This world-class observatory features one of the largest Foucault Pendulums, a 50,000-volt Tesla Coil, an interactive periodic table of elements, and more. View the night sky as seen from the Samuel Oschin Telescope at Palomar Observatory.

Hollywood Sign

One of the best views of the sign!

What an amazing experience Estevan was amazing very funny .. made the tour enjoyable interacting with all the tour guests knew all the best places to see things and timings . And the life show is definitely a must

I purchased this on Groupon and I must say, it was one of the best experiences I have ever purchased. Estevan, our guide, was ridiculously knowledgeable about the observatory annd all of the science on display there. The tour was an hour and a half and I was enraptured with everything he said the entire time. I could have spent the whole day there listening to him talk about the observatory, the City of LA, and everything in between. If you see this on Groupon, buy it! You won’t be disappointed. I would recommend touring the observatory on your own before or after the guided tour because there is so much there to see. Estevan was also kind enough to give us dinner recommendations for after the tour and they were on point as well!!
