The West Sedona Canyon Tour area is about 8 miles west of Sedona. Make your own way to the departure point and from there, you will be taken to the trailhead in a 15-passenger van. The 3-hour tour begins when you arrive at the trailhead. This is the outback of the West Sedona Valley, where over 40 movies have been filmed over the years. There is over a hundred miles of trails to choose from, which provides your guide with the opportunity to customize each tour based on the age, interests and skill levels of the group. You’ll be awestruck by a view of the Verde Valley from the top of Skeleton Bone Mountain, over 800 feet above the valley floor. And don’t be surprised if some antelope run alongside you as you drive along the valley floor! For your safety and comfort, wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and bring your sunglasses. Also, bring your camera; the views are spectacular!

This was my first time driving an ATV, and I had a great time! The half day tour includes time to get outfitted at the shop (helmet, goggles, bandanas, and gloves provided), get trained, and take a test lap on a mini training course. Even though it was 65 degrees, I'm glad I brought my windbreaker for warmth and dust! It was about a 15 minute drive to the trailhead. I think we were out riding for 2-2.5 hours. My tour started at 1pm, and we got back around 5:30. There were 12 ATVs on our tour and two guides. We drove single file down service roads (25mph) and trails (up to 15mph). The trails provide enough terrain to keep it interesting and exciting: rocks, slopes, twists and turns. At one point, I misplaced a tire in a rut and got tossed around a bit, which shook me up a little. At our rest stop, I let the guide know, and he moved me up in line so I followed him. He said "Watch my back tires, and put your wheels where I put my wheels." I did exactly that and had a great rest of the ride. He checked in to make sure I felt comfortable and was having fun - which I was! We stopped at two locations to have some water, hear about some of the sights we were seeing, and to relieve ourselves in the bushes if need be. At one stop, the guides choreographed some pretty fun action photos. When we got back to the shop, the blew us off with a leaf blower to get the dust off!

My family took the Guided ATV Desert Tour in early March and we had a fantastic time. Our guides, Tim and Mark, were knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and genuinely enjoy what they do. The tour lasted nearly 3 hours and we visited several different areas around Sedona. The views are incredible and Tim and Mark made sure we stopped several times to take photos. Several people in our group were first time ATV drivers and they had no problem handling the tour. I highly recommend exploring Sedona with Tim and Dave, you'll have a wonderful experience!
