Not an excursion I can recommend. My Kayak had a leak so I sat in water for 3 hours. We saw very little wild life, mostly common birds known to all. We did see a Manatee for about 5 minutes (if that long) and nothing else. Our "guide" told us the type of birds we saw and told us that the "quarter sized black creatures on the Mangrove trees are crabs not spiders so no need to be concerned if they drop down on us". That was the extent of the "eco tour". If he said anything else, I wouldn't know because he left about 1/3 of his group far behind him. One of the Kayakers was really left behind when his Kayak seat broke and he was forced to go to shore and try to fix it himself. He was then in the predicament of catching up with the rest of the tour group. It wasn't a tour it was a race. We had to paddle hard for 3 hours with a 5 minute "break" on a beach. Nothing pleasant about it. I took a Kayak tour out of Sarasota last year that was really good. We had a lot of information shared with us, the tour guide stayed with us and paced himself to his group. This one was well worth it but not the Ft Myers tour.

Thank you for your review! I'll try to address all your concerns here. Your kayak didn't have a leak. Our kayaks are sit on top kayaks, so there is a tendency to get a little water in them. This doesn't in any way affect the performance or safety of the Kayak. As far as wildlife, you said you saw Manatee and a variety of Birds, was there something in particular you were looking for? Most of our guests are thrilled to see Manatees. According to your guide, there wasn't a broken kayak seat, but the seat simply needed some adjustment which he helped with. A guide's job is not to pace themselves to the tour. If they did that, you might have been out for 5 hours instead of 3. The tours cover about 4 miles, which makes for a very comfortable pace in 3 hours. I understand that some people prefer a slower pace than that, and we offer private tours and rentals, where you get to dictate the pace, because we don't have to take anyone elses needs into consideration. The same applies to the stop at the beach. Most of our guests don't want to spend much time on the beach when they're on a kayak tour. We do some private trips where the group wants to stay at the beach for an hour, but if we did that on the Eco Tour, most people wouldn't be very happy with us. Again, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience. We do strive to make everyone happy, and I'm sorry you aren't. -Stefan

We did the eco tour, which was good. The mangrove tunnel was cool and our guide was very nice and informative. Overall, for the price, you are better off just renting a kayak and exploring on your own.
