Overview

Enjoy a close, personal encounter with the West Indian Manatee as you snorkel with them under the guidance of a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Our small group (no more than six guests) tours are conducted daily in the beautiful Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. Get up close and personal with these amazing mammals and learn about the ecosystem and their habitat.

Unlike many tours, these Captains will actually swim with you and your group to ensure that you have a memorable experience. While in the water, your captain/tour guide will take high-definition photos and videos of you and your group which you will be able to view and purchase at the end of your trip.

Your price includes all snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit) and complimentary coffee or hot cocoa.

Five years ago, my wife and I did a similar trip and wanted to do it again. We chose Captain Ron this time based on other reviews. We were not disappointed. Ron and Lauren provided a fun and informative briefing on our way to the area where we got in the water to swim with these amazing animals! Our first attempt was mostly unsuccessful as the manatees didn’t stick around. We headed for another spot where a group of swimmers were clearly having an encounter. Rather than crash their party, we dropped anchor nearby, but far enough away from the other group so as not to interfere with their experience. Our group consisted of my wife and myself, and a couple from Michigan who we did not know. The four of us hit the manatee jackpot! One of them took a liking to us and interacted with us for more than an hour! The entire time, Lauren was taking photos and short videos which we later purchased on a USB stick. Ron and Lauren were a pleasure to speak with throughout the trip, and our lengthy swim with the manatee I named “Phil” (for no particular reason, he just looked like his name was Phil 😁) made this a memory that will last a lifetime! I highly recommend a trip with Gulf Coast Expeditions and fully expect to make a return visit myself.

We went to see the manatees, would have stayed for the crew. The Captain and our guide were a riot. They knew their stuff and info dumped on us in a way that was entertaining and informative. They made sure to show us sites and let us explore places apart from the manatees. Despite the fact we were there before the manatees really show up, he made sure to find a few for us to swim with. Our guide went above and beyond. She made sure to get good photos, show us around, and make sure everyone was respectful of the animals while still having fun. We got to spend quite a lot of time in the water, it was beautiful. When on the boat, the crew of two were easy going and fun. They even had coffee and hot chocolate waiting for us. Thank you!
