Overview

Enjoy a close, personal encounter with the West Indian Manatee as you snorkel with them under the guidance of a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Our small group (no more than six guests) tours are conducted daily in the beautiful Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. Get up close and personal with these amazing mammals and learn about the ecosystem and their habitat.

Unlike many tours, these Captains will actually swim with you and your group to ensure that you have a memorable experience. While in the water, your captain/tour guide will take high-definition photos and videos of you and your group which you will be able to view and purchase at the end of your trip.

Your price includes all snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit) and complimentary coffee or hot cocoa.

Captain Ron and Lauren were a pleasure. We needed to reschedule our time at the last minute, and Captain Ron accommodated our schedule so that we wouldn't miss the excursion before returning home to Ohio. Originally, I had tried to avoid the 6:30 AM time due to the early time and chill in the air, but Captain Ron keeps the boat warm with plastic covers, a heater, and heavy parkas. The water temperature is 72 degrees which is quite comfortable even when the air temp is in the 40's. Lauren is very patient and personable. One in our party had never snorkeled and needed a little additional assurance and guidance. Lauren stuck with her in the beginning. I highly recommend Gulf Coast Expeditions, and I hope we can tour with them again in the future!

An amazing, unforgettable experience. Captain Ron and Captain Lauren are knowledgeable and put in a lot of effort to make sure everyone has a great experience. They keep the group small (we were just 6 on the boat), which makes it nicer for the snorkelers, and for the manatees also. Captain Ron is also very honest about what to expect. He told me that the peak season was over so I would not get to see the large numbers of manatees I had read about but I would get to encounter a few and it would be a worthwhile trip. I really appreciated knowing what to expect before I got there and making a decision about my trip with that information. He also worked with me to find a day and time that would be best for manatee snorkeling and adjusted his schedule without telling me about it! Captain Ron shared very interesting facts and information on manatees and their aggregation at Crystal River/Kings Bay.

Excellent experience the guides were great! Got up live and close to wild manatees feeding. Snorkeling and swimming in crystal river was beautiful!
