My partner and I were in Richmond a few weeks weeks ago, and signed up for the Church Hill tour the day of as a last-minute diversion. We were somewhat surprised when we arrived at the meeting spot and were the only ones there. The other groups who had previously signed up had canceled, so we got a lovely private tour with Ray. He was enjoyable to talk to, and knowledgeable about the history of all of the homes and buildings in this area. Our favorite parts were the scenic overlooks over the whole city and the river, and learning more about the famous Patrick Henry speech. (That speech was something that I learned about in history class a long time ago, but didn't really appreciate the significance of in the context of the Revolution until this tour - and that's coming from a Bostonian :-) ). If we're ever back in Richmond, we'll check out one of their other tours for sure!

This was a good tour, although it did not cover as much ground as I anticipated. The tour was really focused on architecture, which was interesting. I enjoyed the church and cemetery area. Note that you see the capital building from a hilltop, not actually there.
