What To Expect

The Gypsy Gold Farm

our first forty five minutes is an educational journey conducted by Dennis Thompson, the discoverer and founder of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed. Dennis and Erin will then introduce you to a Gypsy Vanner stallion and explain the envisioned look and details unique to the Vanner breed. Your second hour is a walk among horse filled paddocks lined with ancient oaks laden with the romantic Spanish moss of the south. On your walk you will meet beautiful stallions and mares and friendly Gypsy Vanner Horse babies. Your Gypsy Gold Farm Tour ends with a picture opportunity with an incredible Gypsy Vanner Horse stallion and a visit to the Gypsy Gold gift shop.

I love a great story, how the breed came to US given by a great story teller, Dennis. We really enjoyed our time there and feeding the horses carrots (large ones, be sure and bring some with you.). Beautiful and gentle horses. Everyone there loves what they do. They also have donkeys and parrots. Don’t forget to ask Dennis about his plans for the donkeys which have been named for characteristics we should encourage more.

We really enjoyed our time at the farm today. The horses are very friendly and gorgeous. The story of how they came to be in America was full of twists and turns. It’s obvious everyone there cares very much for the animals that call it home. Dennis is a very good communicator who cares not only about the horses but about having a world that would be willing to look at each other through each other’s eyes. The love of horses and the donkeys and the parrots is one of those things that can bring us together. There are many characters in the story and all of them have had an impact on Dennis. I think he wishes those kind of relationships for us all. Our walking tour guide was very sweet and knowledgeable about the animals and making her contribution to help the farm operate efficiently and effectively. We met several volunteers who you could tell loved being there and caring for the animals and their environment. Enjoy your time there. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. *And don’t forget your carrots 🥕I wish I had taken more. 😜
