Overview

At MMC we take pride in providing what we feel is necessary for a fun and safe ride down Haleakala. As the pioneer of the downhill bike ride we are knowledgeable of the roads, the people, the regulations, especially since we assisted in creating this industry and making it what it is today. We know the roads like the backs of our hands and can instruct you how to properly handle the roads and your surroundings. You must incorporate the knowledge of cycling within this environment, and that we are masters of. We even go a step further to ensure you feel comfortable, we stay on the mountain with you to make sure all turns are made, it can get tricky, and don't want anyone lost. This is also helpful if an incident was to arise. Last but not least we are the only bike tour company that offers free parking.

Pretty boring in my opinion. The view is nothing spectacular and there's hardly any biking involved, because you're just going down hill the entire time. I was hoping there'd be some historical facts and interesting knowledge shared on the ride up, but there was hardly any. The guide just mostly talked about his own life and not much about Hawaiian history or culture. Plus, I couldn't hear anything in the van even though I was only in the 2nd row, I wish the guide had a mic. I can't believe I spent so much money and woke up early for this, totally not worth it.

The ride down Haleakala was a blast. The operator from Maui Mountain Cruisers was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. I would highly recommend this adventure.

Extremely fun experience. I would recommend to anyone no real physical challenge 99% down hill. The only reason this isn’t a 5star review is the bike we were given were worn out beach cruisers with drum brakes and only a single gear to petal which didn’t work past 10mph. Also the drop off point was only 4.5k up the 10k of mountain. Still great fews. Many chances to pull over and take pictures. Also a different way to experience the road. Going up in a car you don’t get the smell and feel of the outdoors.

We are glad you had fun. The ride is a gravity-assisted downhill ride. There is no need for gears on the bikes, you wouldn't be using them. The bikes are set up to ensure the safety and comfort of all riders. There is no need for gears, and peddling is only required in a few spots along the route. The speed of the bikes downhill is approximately 20 to 30 mph. At that speed, we ask to just sit back and enjoy the ride!!
