Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.

Can’t say enough about this very special experience. Exceptional views, combined with detailed explanations of the history of the culture. Sunset was magnificent! One of the reasons it was so special was our tour guide, Nettie. She truly cares about passing along the cultural info, and is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people you will meet on your journey. One bit of advice, it can be cold at the top, so layer up!

The sunset was beautiful beyond words. To say it may be cold is an understatement, travelers to the top MUST take very warm clothing. The view is worth the climb (and the temperature).

The driver was fantastic, cousin Mitch was fun to listen to as we drove up the mountain. We had some clouds and didn’t get a full view of the sunset but the on the drive down, the clouds parted and it was beautiful.
