Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 24 hours before going on this tour.

I just want to preference this by saying that I did not actually go on this tour, but I wish I had! My mom and I were up at the top for sunrise and it would so cloudy you could not see a thing so my mom and I hung out in the visitor center. Netti then came in with her group and begun talking story and explaining all about the area. Although we were not apart of the tour it was hard not to get sucked into what she was saying. She is the most passionate person I’ve ever heard on a tour. Her words inspired me and I was so glad that we made it up to the top. Even though we couldn’t see a thing, she painted a picture so vividly that you didn’t even need to see the view in order to get the full experience of Haleakalā at sunset. So basically, take her tour, I wish I had!

Good drinks, decent appetizers, great crew. I recommend the trip for families or couples. The water was pretty rough and our captain did a good job getting us on and off the boat safely.

What a wonderful way to see the crater and a beautiful sunset! Husband didn’t want to try and drive unfamiliar mountain road and this was the best way. Recommended by concierge and she was right. They picked us up at condo reception at 1:30 and went on to get others for group. Total of 19. Drove us to their gathering place and had very nice and comfortable bus, with electric and usb at each seat. Our driver was Henry and he was very knowledgeable. Great information all during trip up the mountain with stops at Kula Market for bathroom and shopping, then Park Headquarters at 7000 ft for another break. He was very conscientious and always checking that no one was having issues with altitude. Then on to the look out at 9740 ft. High as buses can go, the actual top is 10000ft and can walk if want. We had about 45 minutes to walk around and look and take pictures, with Henry taking lots of pics of everyone. The the main event, beautiful sunset over mountain, above the clouds. Then back down and a great dinner Cafe O Lei at the dunes, then drove us back to our condo. All around great tour and would highly recommend.
