The tour is great it starts with a drive up to the summit to look around and then back down to the staging area for bikes. I ended up with altitude sickness but what little I was able to do was exhilarating and a real rush. My gf said she would do it again in a heart beat! She stopped a few times long the way but loved biking down. The company was great they came and picked me up right away once we called them and drove me back to the shop, I did start to feel better once we hit the 4k elevation mark and my ears started popping. Make sure to drink lots of water and eat breakfast!!!

They were 20 mins later than the designated pick up time of 1.30am. But that was not an issue as we got there on time with plenty of instruction and information to see the sunset and get us ready for the self guided bike ride. Equipment was in great condition, instructions were very clear so as to not get lost. Marlin was an amazing guide! The only thing I will mention is that on our transport home, the air conditioning in the bus was not working (no one’s fault!) BUT the driver was very unfamiliar with the roads and the drop offs locations. It got to the point that the passengers were on google maps giving her directions as to where to turn and go. Clearly didn’t help especially when stuck in a hot bus. But would still recommend it for the amazing sunset and bike tour!

The sunrise was amazing and the staffs commentary up to the top and background on the park and Hawaii was great. Riding down the volcano after sunrise was pretty fun while in the park. Once we exited the park and got farther away from it, the roads became less friendly to bikers. Had fun in the park but felt it could have ended before sneaking through some of the local neighborhoods where people weren’t sharing there road.
