We wanted to do a fun outdoor activity with our granddaughter. She is 10 yrs. old and is 4’10” (the minimum height for this activity) We are so delighted that we chose to do this tour. While you have to get up super early to do this, it is well worth it! We did it on our first day because we were still on mainland time which made it a little easier. This company did an exceptional job from beginning to the end. Their equipment was very well maintained, the shuttle clean, the tour guides were well-versed, funny and friendly. Keep in mind you will be very cold at the top, however, the rain gear and gloves they provide help some. But you’ll still want a sweatshirt, beanie and long pants to withstand the sunrise and beginning of the ride. The scenery was spectacular and the bike ride was a lifetime memory that we will always have. There were a few hills that were not difficult and you do have to share the road with cars. The route that the tour takes you on are the ones that are less traveled by cars and it seems that the cars know your there are are respectful. So make sure to stay on the route they give you! On the self-guided you can go as fast or slow as you wish. When we were finished we still had a half day to do whatever we wanted to do We chose to stop at Mama’s Fish House and have a delicious lunch. We will definitively be doing this again in the future. We told many people on our trip about it. I would highly recommend this!

This was awesome, highly recommend waking up early to catch the sunrise tour! Keith was our driver and Jackie our guide. They gave great instructions for the self-guided bike tour as well as interesting info about the area on the ride up and to the bike drop off. Timing was perfect as we were one of the first tour groups up there so we had prime viewing spots, the stars were incredible, and the the horizon was just starting to lighten. We even had time after the sunrise for a quick hike to the summit just above the viewing area, which is the highest point in Maui. The bike ride down is easy and fun. By doing the self guided, you can enjoy the eucalyptus forest, stop by a lavender farm, eat a leisurely breakfast (our guides made great recommendations), and pick up some yummy butter rolls and still be back to the bike shop well before lunch time. Suggestions: Do this your first morning in Maui so your body isn't adjusted to local time yet... made the 1 AM wakeup more bearable. It will be cold, even in mid-May and with layers, an ear warmer, gloves, and the jacket/pants over my clothes I was cold. But the natural beauty made it easy to bear. It warms up as soon as the sun is over the horizon, but can still be cool in the shady areas as you speed down the mountain.

My husband and I did the self guided tour with our friends. We had such an amazing time and enjoyed very minute of it. Yes- it’s an early morning, but regardless of your view or weather conditions—- it is well worth it. Keith was our driver and Jackie was our guide up the mountain. Both were so kind, informative and had a great sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed them both, as well as the entire experience with the company. Be sure to take advantage of what they provide when it comes to warm clothes bc it is chilly on top of the mountain, but be layered bc as you ride down the weather gets warmer. Oh- and listen to instructions for the bike ride down, as I missed one of the veers to the right and had a fun walk up a hill with my bike (totally my own fault, and was laughing about it after I made that mistake).
