The whole experience was absolutely amazing! The sunrise was a bit obstructed by clouds but nothing we could’ve done about that. A few recommendations: - Bring snacks, it’s a long time before you have the opportunity to stop to eat along the bike route. - Layer up! It was REALLY cold at sunrise and I was not prepared. - Be patient. Everyone has to do safety checks and are at different levels. - Tip your driver.

HIGHLY recommend the self-guided tour with Rory! His knowledge of Hawaiian/Maui history is unmatched and he made the bus rides wonderful! I can’t say enough about him! The bike ride down was breathtaking and a relatively easy ride. The views make up for the couple of small hills we had to ride up. 10/10!

We absolutely loved this self guided bike ride tour down Haleakala. We woke up around 230 am to get to bike Maui to get fitted gear and check in for our tour. They had backpacks, windbreakers, jackets, etc to help you stay warm while waiting for the sunrise. The sunrise was simply magical, our tour guide also made some stops afterwards for some picturesque spots and afterwards prepared us for our ride down. It was simply exhilarating and so fun. We would for sure do 100 times over. If you end up getting cold feet for the bike ride down, they will let you ride the bus down so rest assured if you have people in your group who are hesitant!
