This tour was awesome! They loaned us plenty of the equipment we needed (fleece vests, rain coat, rain pants, backpacks) and made sure we were brought to the best lookout spots. Eddie was wonderful: very informative and kept us laughing at 4 am! Watching the sunrise was simply breathtaking. Some of the guides even sang a beautiful chant as the sun rose. Make no mistake - it is an EARLY morning with a 3:30 check in and the meeting point is almost an hour from Ka'anapali/Lahaina area. We did the self-guided tour, which is not for the faint of heart: traffic is not stopped and will whiz right by you. Eddie was so reassuring, made sure we were comfortable on our bikes, and recommended good places to stop along the way back. Overall it was a really amazing experience and one we will not forget.

Highly recommend the sunrise and bike tour. The views are truly spectacular and the bike ride was exhilerating. The self-guided tour allows you the freedom to go at your own pace and make as many stops as you want (pictures, food, etc.). On the way up the mountain, our guide Marlon kept us entertained and awake at 4am and was incredibly knowlegable about the history and culture of the area; he was friendly and funny. He also pointed out all the important intersections and landmarks we would need to know about on the way back down, as well as some tips and places to stop. We arrived at the summit in time for all the pre-dawn colors and stood in awe as the sun rose over the clouds; it was an experience of a lifetime! The bike ride down was so fun. I felt we received sufficient safety instruction and directions. One tip -- dress warm...and then put another layer on; bring a hat and gloves. You'll take layers off as you ride down.
