This is a once in a lifetime experience. You have to wake up extremely early but the sunrise is unreal. It’s cold at the top, but we were comfortable with layers, a winter hat, and thin gloves. They have a jacket and pants to borrow, but we also had our own layers on underneath The bike ride is really amazing - we did self guided and I’m glad we did. They have plenty of buses on the mountain if you did need assistance, and by doing self guided you are able to keep your own pace. The ride is a little intimidating at first, but not physically challenging at all. We barely had to pedal, it’s all downhill. Just keep a comfortable pace and you’ll be fine. We stopped in a town at the bottom of the volcano for breakfast, and then dropped our bikes off and headed out a little before 11am

It was a great experience from beginning to end. It’s not always easy to get up that early in the morning, but the tour guide did an excellent job keeping us entertained on the ride up. I would highly recommend doing the self guided so you can go at your own pace, stop for pictures, etc.

Such a great experience and a must do when in Maui! Get some rest the night before as check in is at 3am, you get suited up with a helmet, an optional rain jacket, pants, and backpack if needed (Dress warm for sunrise! I wish I had brought gloves). The staff was awesome and really went over safety procedures but made sure we had the best time and rode down in confidence. We did the self-guided bike ride down which we enjoyed going down and making stops at our own pace, but they did an amazing job for us to remember our way down, we never got lost! Eddie kept us informed and entertained and recommended some great stopping points. Experiencing Maui above the clouds and riding down with the best views, you can't pass up an experience like this.
