Overview

In 1901, the great fire of Jacksonville quickly swept through the area and destroyed our downtown. Thankfully architects from around the world heard about our plight and came to help us design our buildings. On this wonderful tour, you will also experience several memorials and the oldest living thing in our city, the great Treaty Oak. A fun addition is being able to ride in our luxury tuk tuk over our historic Main Street bridge.

What To Expect

Veterans Memorial Wall

The Veterans Memorial Wall is located at 1145 East Adams Street, adjacent to the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The quarter-million dollar monument was dedicated in November, 1995 and serves as a tribute to more than 1,500 Jacksonville area American war heroes.

VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena

This includes the Jacksonville Fallen Police Memorial. This extremely touching memorial is dedicated to those who have fallen in the line of duty since records have been kept in Jacksonville, Florida.

Friendship Fountain

Friendship Fountain is a large fountain in Jacksonville, Florida. It is in St. Johns River Park at the west end of Downtown Jacksonville's Southbank Riverwalk attraction. The world's largest and tallest fountain when it opened, it has been one of Jacksonville's most recognizable and popular attractions.

We’ve been living in Jacksonville for a while but didn’t know much about its history and charm until we joined the “Half-Day City Tour in Downtown Jacksonville.” Thanks to our guide, Steve, the experience was fantastic! His witty humor and deep knowledge brought the city’s stories to life, especially those behind the many remarkable buildings downtown. One tip for fellow travelers: check the weather forecast beforehand and dress warmly if it’s cold. Today was around 10°C (50°F), and we would’ve been freezing if not for the cozy blankets Steve provided. Highly recommend this tour for both visitors and locals!

Toni was absolutely incredible. She was SO friendly. She called about an hour before the trip (we got other follows up previously from them and Viator) to triple check arrival time, my knowledge of address, and tips of where we were headed. There was 4 of us total on the tuk tuk. We put in headphones and listened to her speak about the city. She knew everything- the architecture, food spots, history, traffic, events, you name it!! She was so friendly with those around the city (people at the fallen soldiers memorial, police guarding for the Veterans Day parade, etc). She was kind, informative and truly a joy to take the trip from! My husband continues to want to go on beaches vacations but I drag him to a bus tour all the time and this was top knotch!

We booked the downtown tour and had a blast! Our tour guide, Toni was fabulous, funny, and knowledgeable. We learned about the history of Jacksonville, the architecture and notable buildings. It was a fun way to get oriented in the city we were staying in for the weekend. Totally recommend!!
