Half Day Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Overview
The Reward Fleet is one of Miami’s oldest and most recognized charter fishing party boats. We run at least 3 trips daily (morning, afternoon and evening) out of Bayside Marketplace Marina in Miami.

All trips depart Miami through its main ship channel – Government Cut. Because of our location, it only takes a few short minutes to reach the fishing grounds off Miami. We usually fish the local reefs , ledges, drop-offs and wrecks in search of a variety of species – from bottom fish like snappers and groupers, to reef and wreck dwellers like amberjack and kingfish, even pelagic fish like sailfish and tuna are very common.

Fishing methods will vary depending on conditions and time of year, but be assured the captains of the Reward fishing fleet will do everything possible to put you on the fish and have great time while you’re aboard. Sometimes we’ll anchor and chum, sometimes we’ll drift while live-baiting and jigging, and if conditions permit, we’ll even put a fishing kite.

Was so excited today to go fishing on the Reward... I see so many great pictures & it sounds like it could have been a fun trip. But while I was packing my bags & filling my cooler today for the 8:00pm trip... my fun / fishing evening was dashed away as quickly as it was thought up; For the second time.... The first time was the day after Grouper opened, even with the NOAA forecast of 3-4 ft that night... My group was told it was way too rough for them to go out. =( Worst of it all, I had friends drive down almost 2hrs to have a Fathers / Sons trip. Today (May 31, 2014), I have a confession... I am.... a Groupon Holder for two..... Worst groupon I have ever invested in... I will be calling them for a refund. I spoke with the Reward Office today to make a reservation. I was told i needed to have called 48 hrs in advance... but the groupon ticket (rules & fine print) do not speak of such a requirement... I asked the guy on the phone who i spoke too @ 6:54pm & also @ 7:13pm. His response, "it doesn't matter about the groupon tickets rules or fine print" they make the rules & what the ticket says is irrelevant. or as he said it, "didn't matter".... So for all of you folks from out of town or even in town that are looking to have a great time fishing.... I would look else where! They may have great fish pictures but their office has one of the worst customer services personnel i've seen in my 15yrs of fishing with South Florida Party Boats. I hope this Helps the folks that think they're getting a deal with the reward/groupon ticket. Think again.... I apologize in advance to the many Reward fleet fans out there. I had to say this to the many folks like my friends that bought the tickets & now can't use them because all the details where not printed on the page. I wish everyone Happy fishing for the upcoming month of June.... Take care

Due to overcrowding my husband and son spent the 4 hours drop fishing in various locations where your bait spent more time tangled in other fisher men's lines than it did tempting any fish that may have been down there. From what they observed it seems there were less fish caught than the number of fingers on a hand and most of those were small snapper or squirrel fish...this trip has convinced them never to do party boats again...they try to fit too many people...

As far as I know, this is the lowest cost option for a half day of fishing in Miami. It was $45 per person for Florida residents including tackle, bait, and fish cleaning. That being said, expect a little bit of a crowd, and a few tangles. This is a party boat. You will drift and bottom fish. There were about 25 people on my trip, but it wasn't too bad. I arrived early and got a spot on the stern, so I wasn't right in the middle of the pack. I also fished on a Saturday morning. Apparently it is much less crowded during the week. If you want a private boat that will take you kite fishing for Sailfish, this isn't for you. For that kind of fishing you'll need to be prepared to spend $800 for a half day. If you want a 60' Viking Convertible (fancy Sportfishing yacht), this isn't for you. That will set you back $1200+. The Captain and mates were attentive and helpful. I didn't need coaching, but they stopped by to check on me regularly. I never had to sit around waiting on bait. I caught 4 fish and took Snapper fillets home for dinner. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that 90% of the people got off of the boat without tipping the mates. That is poor fishing etiquette! If somebody takes care of you for 4 hours, take care of them. It isn't their fault you didn't catch a Sailfish. If you know what to expect, there is no reason why this won't be a fun day out on the water. Wet a line, have a beer, and if you're lucky, you'll take home dinner.
