Although it was 35 degrees on Palm Sunday, 2018, my friend and I had a very enjoyable tour with Galit as the tour guide. She was charismatic, knowledgable and had a beautiful singing voice to share the history of gospel music. Loved the church service, too where I sketched for about an hour and a half. (attached) The members of the church welcomed us with open arms.

I went on this tour on Palm Sunday and it was incredible! Our guide was a tremendous singer, which added passion and impact to the lessons. We saw some great places and studied the art, history and of course music of Harlem. The tour ended at a gospel church for a Sunday service. There was no pretending or a performance. It was the real deal and the highlight of my week in NYC. So moving! Please don't skip Harlem for any fears from a bad reputation. I thought the area was charming, friendly and part of American history!

Stefan was a great guide! We learned a lot about the Harlem area and the Gospel culture. It was informing but so much fun at the same time. The church visit and service were amazing to experience. I would totally do it again if I was ever back in NYC.
