What To Expect
1
Diamond Head State Monument
Travelers will be taken first to the Diamond Head Hike where they will complete the 1.5-mile trail. The diamond head is a very popular hike in Waikiki. The 0.8-mile hike from trailhead to the summit is steep and strenuous, gaining 560 feet as it ascends from the crater floor. The walk is a glimpse into the geological and military history of Diamond Head. Located near Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
2
Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail
Once dropped off at Makapuu Lighthouse, travelers will be able to experience another type of hiking atmosphere. With views from the coast and the country, you'll be entertained with a view every second. If you're lucky in the winter times, you'll see whales. On super clear days you can also possibly see the other islands from their viewpoints. A must-see experience!

Great experience. Only wish I could’ve been allowed longer at the lighthouse trail, but I still got to see whales so it worked out!

Matthew was a wonderful guide! He is proud of the local culture, and he wants to share that with his guests. He picked me up early enough that I was able to see a spectacular sunrise at Diamond Head. I recommend going early as the trail gets very crowded, and it’s very narrow. 2 hours is plenty of time to hike and enjoy the view from the top. This hike is not paved and has some uneven ground since it is cut through the mountain. It is a switchback hike to help with the elevation gain, but there are several stairs to get to the summit. Matthew picked me back up at the time promised. Just to note, with this back to back tour, you drop off the people that are only doing the Diamond Head hike before picking up individuals that are only doing the Makapu’u Lighthouse hike. Having the trips back to back, the downtime was good. I didn’t find the hikes to be too much to do together, but I’m an avid hiker. Again, 2 hours is plenty for the Makapu’u hike. As stated, this hike is on a paved road, but it is a steeper incline throughout the hike. Go early as there isn’t shade along the way. There are plenty of lookout spots to stop and take a break. In the winter months, it’s a great spot for whale watching. Highly recommend these hikes either together or separately. Matthew is funny and makes the trip an adventure.
