What To Expect

Wailua River State Park

Paddle the majestic Wailua River for 2 miles each way (4 miles total round trip), original home of the first Hawaiians, who paddled 1500 miles from the Marquesas Islands to Kaua`i almost 1500 years ago. Hear the legends and learn about the flora and fauna of Kauai`s most sacred area.

Secret Falls (Uluwehi Falls)

After hiking 1 1/4 miles through the rain forest our guides will take clients to Secret Falls also known as Uluwehi Falls. This beautiful waterfall cascades 110 feet into a refreshing swimming hole, where they can go for a dip and enjoy a terrific lunch! You will then hike 1 1/4 miles back to your kayak (2 1/2 miles of hiking round trip) Bring Closed Toed Shoes / Reef shoes / Teeva Style Sandals

The kayak tour to Secret Falls was an adventure. The tour began with a safety briefing regarding kayaking and hiking. The briefing was geared to those with little to no outdoor experience. About an hour after the tour was scheduled to begin, we were on the river. The kayak trip up the river was crowded with other kayak groups but we were still able to easily navigate the river. After about an hour, we arrived at the trailhead. Our hike was slow moving but we eventually reached the falls. Initially, the falls were very busy but the crowds cleared and when it was time to leave, we were the only group there. The falls were beautiful and the water provided a refreshing swim. The river was much quieter on our trip back. Overall, I would recommend this tour only if you enjoy a tour group setting and enjoy learning about the history of the area. If we were to redo this outing, we would rent our own kayaks and go on our own.
