Half Day "Last Call" Moab Raft Trip

Overview

Enjoy an afternoon in canyon country on the Colorado River with Moab's premier boutique adventure outfitter. This rafting trip covers 7 miles of river, including class I-III rapids (depending on seasonal flows) and plenty of flatter areas for taking a dip and some tranquil floating. We frequently spot wildlife along the way including bald eagles, peregrine falcons, great blue herons, desert bighorn sheep, mule deer, beavers and river otters. Trips are capped at 25 guests and transportation is conducted in air-conditioned vans. Wild West Voyages features top-notch pro guides and clean gear.

What To Expect

Colorado Riverway Recreation Area

Admire the golden light and ever-changing colors on the canyon walls along the Arches National Park boundary. End your day on a natural high of “river magic.” After check-in, your group will enjoy air-conditioned transportation along the scenic Highway 128 on the way to the river. An overall milder experience than our AM Raft Trip, this section provides calmer floats punctuated by occasional splash; the well-known Whites Rapid (Class II or III depending on the season) will cool you on a hot summer afternoon. Let us literally row you into the sunset as you relax and contemplate the journey. The perfect way to cap off your adventures for the day.

Fisher Towers

Enjoy photographic views of the stunning Fisher Towers, which preside over the valley where your river trip begins.

Moab

Meet us at our downtown Moab location, and enjoy historical information and local lore as we drive through the town on our way to the Colorado River.

We are soooo glad our family (kids, 11 and 7 years old) chose WWV because our guide, Jonah, was able to serve up incredible enthusiasm, observations and the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and education tailored to our family’s preferences (even the kids’ splash level preferences!!!). It was a beautiful day and we were pretty confident we would enjoy the rafting itself and felt very safe and secure in Jonah’s competent rafting skills. But what we had not anticipated and absolutely loved was how knowledgeable and observant Jonah was about so many aspects of wildlife and geology along the river. Our family couldn’t stop talking about all Jonah taught and showed us on and around the Colorado River. The bald eagles! The turkeys! The layers of sediment! The skyline figures and rock slides! We will never look at a river again and not think about those things. Jonah even waded into the 50 degree April water to pull out a different sample of soil to show us. We learned so much and it was truly the cherry on top of a most enjoyable afternoon on “the daily” with our family. I should also note that everyone at the boathouse was friendly and helpful. I made our reservation online and, unprompted, someone called to check in and see if I had any questions, which I did, and they answered fully with good insight and advice. The operation seems very well run by competent staff and our whole experience from start to finish was excellent and tailored to our family. Highly recommend.

Great experience, not only for floating the river but for the geographic and local histories that our guide, Jay, provided. Having done quite a bit of river running during my life, it was evident that our guide knew the river well and the idiosyncrasies of the rapids and eddies. One piece of advice if you go in May is that the water is still quite cold and that you should have good water resistant layers to store in their waterproof bag.
