The drive was about 2 hours with a few stops on the way up but Echo Lake was well worth it. Make sure you bring a jacket because the temperature was at least 25 degrees cooler than Denver. Stopped in Idaho Springs on the way back and had about 45 mins which was enough time to have a beer and explore the town, Great afternoon.

Very pleasant afternoon with a moderate uphill walk for good views towards the mountains. A good taster for if you're worried about going to higher altitudes and want to try it for a few hours first. Was nice to have a little time in Evergreen, I liked the galleries/shops and seeing the set-up. Note that if you live somewhere that has a lot of pine trees/lakes, you might not be as impressed with Echo Lake as those who live in different climates! But it was still very pretty. The walk to the views was really nice and our guide Brendan was fun, a good driver, and keen to make sure we were all happy.

Trip was nice and our guide very knowledgeable and friendly - we just felt that it was quite expensive, children pay as adults šŸ˜¬
