We had a wonderful time touring the beautiful Lexington countryside with Daniel recently. He entertained us with an amazing repertoire of facts about the history and current status of the thoroughbred industry in the area. From seeing the gorgeous estates and facilities to petting some shockingly valuable animals, our experience was a great use of a summer morning.

I took my 10 year old granddaughter to Lexington for a look a horse country. I booked this tour and was so glad I did. Not only did I enjoy it but my granddaughter loved it. They picked us up at the Embassy Suites (where we were not staying) but you are allowed to park free there for the tour. Our first stop was Keeneland, a beautiful race track. We saw the horses running the track on their morning workout and many of the trainers came over to the fence to talk to us and tell us about the horses. After Keeneland we drove around the area and were treated to the sight of several horse farms. Our guide was very informative, giving us local history and "inside" information about the farms. When we were there were many mares with their foals and colts in the fields. It was amazing to see. Needless to say my granddaughter was thrilled and was able to pet the horses when they came over to the fences. The tour was about 3 hours long and was absolutely worth it.

If you are visiting Lexington or the surrounding area, you must take this particular tour. My family has been on other tour company tours and they couldn't believe how much more they were able to see on this tour. Some highlights: -Tour operator was a teacher, so was filled with great facts and had an engaging and friendly manner when telling about all we were seeing. -Get an opportunity to visit farms and get out and see the thoroughbreds. -Get an opportunity to visit and learn more about Keenland. Even see where the rich and famous sit for some of the races. -All ages on the tour, so very accommodating. There is a little walking (nothing fast or too long), so be prepared for getting in and out of the tour van. -You can actually pet some horses... but make sure you steer clear of the stallions (males). They will bite. -Bring a camera. You will see beautiful landscape and get some breathtaking photos of some amazing animals. -Bring some tip money... not necessary, but you will be so impressed with your guide, you will want to show your appreciation.
