My husband and I were looking for something to do while visiting Lexington for the weekend, despite snow in the forecast. We happened upon a brochure for the tour; honestly tours are not high on our lists of things to do but we decided to give it a try. I called and spoke to Larry, he was very gracious and arranged a tour group that Saturday morning.
The tour was amazing. Our guide Nick was not only a tour guide but personally involved in the horse industry as a owner/trainer which enhanced the tour tremendously by providing the 'insider' perspective to the horse industry. Nick did not speak from a script but from his knowledge of the area, it's history, and 'horse sense' while interacting with the tour guests. This interaction created an atmosphere that made this tour the best we've ever attended. Our attention and interest was held the entire time (which is quite a feat since we are both ADHD) because of the two way interaction. The knowledge we gained is immense.
It did snow as predicted but the snow only further enhanced our experience. Keeneland and the horse farms were beautiful with their blanket of snow. Nick was a wonderful driver and the snow did not present any concerns.
We're now planning on arranging a trip this summer to bring other members of our family to enjoy this tour. Don't miss this opportunity of an amazing experience if you're in or near Lexington- even if taking a tour is not your usual idea of fun! You won't regret it!
