Half-Day Whitewater Rafting Upper Colorado River

Overview
This section of the Colorado River offers scenic views including meadows, valleys, rolling ranch lands, and steep canyon walls and wildlife including ducks, geese, bald eagles, deer, beavers, and big horn sheep -- always something fun to see.

The Colorado River is our favorite family-friendly rafting trip. Beginning as snowmelt high in Rocky Mountain National Park, the Colorado Rockies give birth to the legendary Colorado River. Downstream of the national park, the river character intensifies through the famed and Class 5 “Gore Canyon”, and then below the river gentles. This is where our Colorado River Rafting experiences begin, with an introduction to white water rafting for families, and groups looking to enjoy an iconic Colorado vacation.

Tanner was our most excellent guide. We went in late September when the river is tame but that was what I was looking for today.. just a stress free float down the river with nothing to do but look and listen… Tanners priority is our safety first with a “boat load” of fun. This is a trip that everyone can participate in the rafting experience. Tanner had good knowledge of the river points of interest and he is a good conversationalist with a healthy respect of his participants… we made one mistake on our journey… we missed turning right just past the state bridge (Colorado River) onto Trough Road, but we were on time. Tanner said he would have waited for us since he knew we were coming! Thumbs up to this 1/2 day adventure. Next time I would look into a day adventure…with snacks🤣

Good advice to bring your own food. There's one small store with a few snacks, but in this beautiful valley there are no restaurants or hotels. Glad you enjoyed it and felt safe!

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the rafting trip with our guide, Tanner. The river was lower and slower than in Spring time but still exciting and fun. We didn't get drenched but we did get very wet so I would recommend wearing fabric that dries quickly. Also water shoes or water ready sandals. Tanner was informative and extremely knowledgeable on everything ranging from safety to enjoying all aspects of rafting. We will definitely return for another trip with him.

Great advice on what to wear: quick dry clothes and shoes that stay on your feet. Hope to see you again soon!

My wife had an AMAZING time on the water! Beautiful water and canyons with a touch of adventure! Our guides, Tanner and Jake were awesome! They were professional, explained everything clearly, and best of all were laid back and fun! Great guys! As it was the end of the summer, the water was a bit low, but the class II and III rapids were perfect for our skill level, (experienced, mostly flat water with some small river floats). I think most people who've paddled a yak (even in flat water) should be able to navigate the rapids, even with a little higher water levels. The inflatable yaks are built to respond more like a whitewater kayak. ie, they don't have a keel so very easy to turn quickly in the rapids. We had no problems adjusting though. Plenty of time to get used to it before you hit the rapids. Next time we're going full day!!
