What To Expect

Hana Highway - Road to Hana

As you fly along Maui’s North Coast, you'll enjoy views of breathtaking sea cliffs and cascading waterfalls on your 40-minute round-trip helicopter flight. Your pilot will point out popular points of interest from above such as Paia, Hookipa, Haiku and the famous surf destination – JAWS. You'll also see the 'Road to Hana' and the iconic Jurassic Rock before your exclusive landing destination deep in the Hawaiian rainforest.

Wailua Valley State Wayside Park

Your helicopter will descend and land for 30-minutes of exploration on a former taro plantation in the Wailua Valley. Traverse the lush vegetation including banana, coconut and wild flowers and indulge in scenic panoramic views as you are surrounded by canyons and waterfalls. Your pilot will provide extensive knowledge of the land which very few people have ever stepped foot on. Please note: Per FAA regulations, all passengers 18 years and older will be required to show photo ID such as a driver's license or passport at the time of check-in.

The Hana Highway is 52 miles of twisting, sometimes one lane road and bridges and is an all day excursion. Maverick Helicopters can show you the road as it hugs the the coast and then so much more. This trip takes you into the Rainforest...lands and you get to hike around seeing the taro, banana and pineapple plants. You get to see the coastal beaches and the sublime waterfalls. All this in 70-80 minutes with a guide and knowledgeable captain. (Many thanks to Captain Eddie on my trip.) The helicopter is beautiful and it's a first class ride. I would strongly recommend Maverick as the company to use. Courteous and helpful and you'll have a trip to remember.

My husband and I had a great experience on this tour with Maverick Helicopters. We chose this trip because we wanted to do a landing in a cool location, not just fly over it, and I think it was the right call! It was so neat to land in the middle of the rainforest and walk around for a bit before heading back to the heliport. Although I think we stayed in the rainforest a bit too long-- we were there for about 30 minutes, and there weren't really any activities except wandering around a small area. Our pilot was very friendly and informative, and the whole experience felt very safe and low key. If you want to do a helicopter tour in Maui, this is a great option!

Recently did the rainforest landing trip and all I can say is WOW! The entire experience from check in to departing was first class all the way, without the first class pricing! Our pilot, Captain Eddy, was great! He provided ongoing descriptions of what we were seeing, some of the history and what we were going to see next. He made sure that all on board had a chance to see everything! More importantly, he also knew when not to talk, to allow us to take in the beauty of what we were experiencing! The rainforest landing was absolutely breathtaking! You really felt like you were in the middle of paradise! Even saw a couple of humpbacks on the return flight back! Kudos to spending a little extra time flying over the whale sighting for us! I would strongly recommend this trip to all!
