What To Expect

Hanalei Bay

Slip into Hanalei River from our own private dock. We will head down stream sharing history of the Hanalei river & getting comfortable in our kayaks before heading out into Hanalei Bay where we spend the majority of our time. There we check out our Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) before heading over to the beach where we will land our kayaks and take everyone out snorkeling (45 mins). Guides will share modern day reef ecology and point out what to look for while snorkeling. After snorkeling we provide a full deli style lunch, sit, hang out, & answer any questions you may have about our island. Our guides are born and raised here and take pride in sharing their island knowledge. This tour has an 8am check in time and runs from 8:30am-1pm. We will fit you for snorkel gear (you are welcome to bring your own full set of gear or a full set will be provided(no mix & match of gear). Full face masks not permitted on tour.

The kayak and snorkel tour with Kayak Hanalei was amazing! A beautiful way to see Hanalei River and Hanalei Bay. I loved that our tour guide was a native and was very knowledgeable about the island, the mountains, and Kauai's history. The snorkeling location was great and we got amazing views of sea turtles and lots of fish. The customer service was excellent and prompt at answering my questions too!

My wife and I experienced this half day kayak, snorkel trip 12/13/22. Kolo was our guide and he was fantastic. We started by kayaking the river into the bay. It went from an easy cruise on the river to the more challenging open ocean feel-nice change of pace. We then made out way to a beach near a reef for some snorkeling. The snorkeling was beautiful- the reef (and colorful fish) are just a few feet from the sandy beach. We then had lunch on a different beach where Kolo serenaded us with some Hawaiian tunes accompanying himself on the uke. Kolo did a great job teaching us a bit of geology, some oceanography, Hawaiian traditions, a few Hawaiian words, and more.

Amazing, Thrilling and Exciting. You start kayaking and then you suddenly enter the waves and in plain sight - you are rowing your kayak into the ocean. So much thrill. Kolo and his cousin were just amazing. The water depth is not a lot - but enough to have fun kayaking all the way. It is bit of exercise though - so be ready. Snorkeling at the Bay was just amazing. We saw a lot of varieties of fish and turtle. Food and Music are just amazing. Kolo and his cousin go above and beyond in entertaining the visitors while making sure we are making progress. They are just very nice people who care about Kauai and about their customers who want to make their visit memorable. I highly recommend this trip. They are very patient and you will like every minute of the experience in this group setting. Ohana - The entire family moves as a single unit - No one is left behind. The spirit behind this whole event is really mesmerizing and the guides make you feel like a one big family. PS: Try the morning breakfast nearby at Hanalei Burger. We got some amazing breakfast sandwich and were ready for all the fun.
