On the contrary, it has become one of the most dynamic neighborhoods and trendy New York! And even if it was done at the cost of a certain gentrification (gentrification), the district has preserved most of its cultural heritage: street art, hip-hop, gospel, jazz and soul food! We can't count the number of personalities who were born or lived in Harlem: Louis Armstrong, James Baldwin, Malcom X, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marcus Garvey… So many Harlemites who have contributed to the exceptional heritage of this district steeped in history. From Baptist churches oozing the fervor of gospel masses to the legendary hall of the Apollo Theater, from the small streets formed of typical brownstones to the prestigious Columbia University ... succumb to the discreet charm of Harlem!

During our stay in New York with my partner, we had the opportunity to make three guided tours with Fred, and it was an unforgettable experience! The first visit to the business district was a real revelation. Contrary to what one might think, it was not only about the economy, but rather about the fascinating history of the city in its early days and its beautiful anecdotes. Fred was a wonderful guide, showing us unusual places and hidden nuggets in this neighborhood. We highly recommend this visit! We then visited Little Italy and Chinatown with Fred another day. While this visit is interesting, it was more marked by mass tourism in New York, from our perspective. Finally, we explored the district of Harlem. At first, we hesitated to make this visit, but what a crush! Fred conducted this tour in a structured and exciting way, and we definitely recommend this experience. Many thanks to Fred for these memorable moments! It is very important to know that it is essential to have cash on hand to be able to give tips, which is not necessarily in my Parisian culture:), here it is very important.
